About Me

Hello! My name is Daniel Patten and I am a graduate of both Full Sail University's Music Production Bachelor Degree Program and The Entertainment Masters Degree Program. Graduating both Degree Programs as Valedictorian, my goal from the start was to give it my all.

My path to Full Sail was not a direct one and in fact, took a few turns along the way. As a child, I started playing the horn in a Drum & Bugle Corp and at age 12 graduated into their senior Corps, The St Andrew's Bridgemen. This provided a great opportunity to learn music and travel the US, doing two-week summer tours and competing against other Drum & Bugle Corps from around the country.  In high school, I was introduced to reel to reel recording from a friend's father and fell in love with the recording process. It was at this time that I also took an interest in Karate, so rather than deciding on one or the other, I chose to pursue both and traded in the horn for a guitar, joined a local band and soon after joined the high school karate team. My Goal after graduating was to become a successful musician and to compose and record my own music while continuing my love for karate.

This goal was quickly put on hold as the reality of "earning my way" with a family of nine brothers and sisters far outweighed the dreams and ambitions of a teen. So I went into trucking, following in the footsteps of my older brothers. I was fortunate enough to continue my training in karate and picked up my guitar now and again to maintain a connection with my music. This duel path would prove an invaluable lesson as it taught me the importance of having a good work ethic and gave me the drive to overcome any adversity that would come my way.

Fast forward 30+ years, with my children grown and successful in their own lives, It was time to revisit that dream I had as a young teen. I signed up for Full Sail's Degree Program in Music Production and graduated with honors, holding a 4.0 GPA throughout a grueling 32 months of courses. During my time there, I was able to reinforce the music theory principles I had learned along with gaining hands-on experience with today's top recording software, Pro Tools and Logic Pro X. With courses like Advanced Audio Production Techniques, Audio Post Production, Advanced Music Theory and Advanced Music For Media, I have learned not only how to record music with today's technology but I've also learned how to compose music for the many different sectors of today's media. Upon completing the Bachelor's Degree, I then went straight into the Entertainment Business Masters Degree Program where I also excelled holding a 4.0 GPA. I wanted to further my knowledge of the Entertainment Industry so that I could use my knowledge to help advance my own career and that of my clientele.

At the moment, I am working on a concept album as well as producing an album for a local Singer-Songwriter. I have also just completed working on a Film Project called "The Lilac Thief". This is a Proof-Of-Concept 12-minute film shot in L.A. and I was hired to not only compose for the Short Film but also take on the job of the entire Audio Post Production. I am also currently working on Film Project "Okinawan Isshin Ryu Karate" where I am composing the background music for their online instructional videos as well as putting together and editing those online videos through Final Cut Pro.

In working with others, I can bring life experience and a strong level of commitment and passion to any project, which could really help to see a project through. It is through these work ethics that I’ve learned the importance of commitment and it is through commitment that I learned about passion.
